Jason Voorhees Actor Admits He Still Wants To Play Michael Myers

Kane Hodder may be one of the horror genre’s most prominent under-the-radar actors. While he’s portrayed plenty of iconic slashers, he’s often hidden behind a mask and thus never given the recognition that he deserves. The sixty-four-year-old is mot known for playing Jason Voorhees more than any other performer, as he donned the infamous hockey mask in four separate Friday the 13th films. He also was the stunt coordinator on Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III, which included performing some stunts as the fearsome bad guy. Mor impressive still, his arm was used as Freddy Krueger’s at the end of Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday. Kane Hodder may be one of the horror genre’s most prominent under-the-radar actors. While he’s portrayed plenty of iconic slashers, he’s often hidden behind a mask and thus never given the recognition that he deserves. The sixty-four-year-old is most known for playing Jason Voorhees more than any other performer, as he’s donned the infamous hockey mask in four separate Friday the 13th films. He also was the stunt coordinator on Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III, which included performing some stunts as the fearsome bad guy. More impressive still, his arm was used as Freddy Krueger’s at the end of Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday. Hodder has had a career that many in the industry would envy, but he still longs for the opportunity to play perhaps the most well-known fictional serial killer on the big screen: Michael Myers.

The actor says he’s always wanted to portray the Haddonfield murderer. In his own words:

“Jason is my first love, for sure, because it put me on the map and everything else. It allowed me to play a character like Victor Crowley [in three Hatchet films]. But I have always wanted to play Michael.”

He isn’t the only one. Nick Castle, the original Myers actor, has stated that he’d love to play the serial killer once again. It sounds like he’s going to get the chance to it’s already been announced that he and stuntman James Jude Courtney will once again split time behind the mask in the upcoming sequels Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends.

Luckily for Hodder, the end of this latest trilogy won’t spell the end of the franchise as a whole. If Jason Blum has his way, the studio will make at least ten more Halloween movies. The actor might be able to talk his way into playing Myers at least once. In the meantime, he’ll just have to settle for watching the next installment  from the seats just like the rest of us.

Halloween Kills will skulk into theaters on October 16th, 2020.
